GTA:SA rocks!

« on: 26 June 2005 - 17:48 »

Hey yall, I've just got San Andreas for the PC.
Can anyone recommend a good controller to use for this game on the pc? Can you get one that is the same as the PS2, but works on a PC?
Also, so far I've managed to find and spray out 98/100 of the graffiti tags in Los Santos but I just cant find the last 2, does anyone know if there is a map available with the locations of all of the tags on?
What does everyone else reckon to the game???
It's a great site you have here too. Keep up the good work.

Why not use a PS2 controller?  There are a number of devices availabel that convert a PS2 contoller to USB

I use a Saitek P2500 Rumble control pad, which is the closest to a PS2 controller i have seen, the only difference is that there is only one shoulder button on each side (whereas the PS2 has 2), although the missing shoulder buttons have been placed as 2 additional buttons on the front right of the pad (next to where the PS2's 'X' and 'O' etc buttons are.
Overall it's a great controller, and has comfy rubberised grips. It pluugs in through USB and the installation takes all of 2 mins - easy!

I have seen the saitek control pads recently and they look good, but why try to immitate a PS2 controller when you can use a real one. I'm gonna get me a adapter that Butch Vendor posted about. Thank you all.

In my opinion PC's are better and graphics and sound are far superior. I have spent a lot of money tuning my computer so dont want to waste any more buying a console which is inferior to the system i already have.

I agree PC's have better graphics, not to sure about the sound as PS2's do have dolby digital support.  I know PCs can do 7.1 sound but doe's it sound any better than 5.1?.  So a game will look better on a PC in terms of graphics.
In my oppinion games consoles better for games in term of value for money, as when you buy a game it works fine on your console straight away at the designed frame rate.  When a new PC game comes out normally it is designed for a top spec PC which significantly increase the cost of a game if you need to upgrade your PC to play it. Also how many people have 28 inch wide screen monitors, coz a PS2 plugs straight into my TV?

can you imagine inviting a few mates round for a few beers and a quick few games all huddled around a PC desk?.
Actually I can, and have done. Have you ever heard of LAN parties?
Also, I would be inclined to agree that PC's are better graphics wise, but i guess it's all down to individuals preferences.

LAN parties are where a group of people bring thier PCs to a common location and set them up on a LAN.  Once everything is set up you can play networked games.

Lets just say it was a very tight squeeze!!  And the heat generated by 6 PCs soon heats up a room.

no need for central heating then have a LAN Party, I'd of thought id would boost your electric bill up abit aswell with six pc's running for a few hours

Yep huge leccy bill and good heating especially with 6 GAMING PC's.
LAN's are great fun though if you like your PC's, and the huge national ones can be great social events, with fantastic prizes.

In reality 6 PCs (gaming or otherwise) won't use much power at all, so I wouldn't worry about the bill.

Although they will inject some nasty harminics onto the power system wich will casue some localsed deformation of the voltage waveform, but thats a completely different matter.

Harmnoic loading of the network is a problem, and the current type of PC power supply is not helping things
