for some reason its telling me its not installed (code 28), so i try and install it, I let windows connect to the internet to find the software and it can't find it?
Now I can't play music or anything, one day it was fine now its not.
Don't understand it, or its just my Irish computer being weird again Undecided

Have you made any recent alterations to your computer prior to the problem occuring. Ie did you install, or uninstall or delete something? Also what exactly is the error message, when does it occur?

when I open windows media player to play music a box comes up saying "windows media player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device"etc. so i looked and sound devices in control panel and everything is working, so I go to add hardware it shows up the multimedia controller with a warning sign saying (code 28) I try to install it letting windows access the internet but it says it can't find the software. I've not installed or uninstalled anything to do with the music side.

All done now Cache-man, I went on to add programs instead and installed a new driver from download.com. cheers anyhow Smiley

From my time on the IT help desk, I would diagnose this problem as a PEBKAC.

I accidently remove my multimedia audio controller from my acer aspire 3620 laptop and I don't know how to get it back.  There's a yellow interrogation mark on my multimedia audio controller.  I can't listen to my music or anything else anymore.  Please help me to retrace my audio device!  Thank you!!
