This little USB stick from Freecom, is the smallest digital TV tuner in the world available to computer users. Initally it looks just like any USB memory stick, but once you've plugged it into your computer, and connected the antenna, it is capable of displaying a massive choice of digital TV channels full-screen on your moniter at extremely high quality. This is great for home viewing, but even better when coupled with your laptop, as it means you can take the telly with you whaerever you go!

Nice review!

I didn't realise you could pick up an external digital tuner. I've been using a cheap TV Tuner card for TV on my media server and it only receives channels 1-4. Digital enabled and by USB would give you lots of options, especially on a laptop. Integration is where it's at, and a DVD, Digital TV, MP3 etc. capable laptop is perfect for mobile entertainment...

That is such an awsome piece of kit. Your review portrays it well too Cacheman. I saw one of them in a demo at PCWorld last week, and you were right about the high quality pictures and sound. Very impressive for something so small.
I will now be getting one, looking on the internet though, as PCWorld overcharge for everything! Smiley

Thanks...

After posting, I re-read the article and spotted where you mentioned about re-scanning in a different location. So I tried it and picked up all the BBCs I was expecting, along with several other channels. Around 36 now, which is more than my Pioneer freeview box picks up!

I swapped the device over from my laptop to my partner's pc, and it's picking up a really bad signal, even though they're both in the same location. Going to try re-installing and re-scanning again tonight to see if I get it any better. It was perfect on my laptop.

So pleased with the device, that I purchased a second for work. I'll be setting it up today to record TV shows for educational purposes - the tutors have requested it many times.

Although I think an internal one will probably be better, if the case can fit one in (when i pick the case that is)

Manufacturers are catching on to the HTPC market - I purchased an MSI wireless PCI card the other day, and it came complete with a half-height and full height mounting bracket, allowing you to fit it to low profile cases if you wanted.
