Getting bored with know it alls

« on: 16 November 2005 - 23:18 »

I heard about this little program called google globe the other day which lets you zoom in on any part of the world right down to street details.  It uses pictures from a satelite in space, its pretty useless after you have looked at all the places you want to but it pretty interesting and it make you realise how much detail the US spy satelites must be able to see.

Its a 11 meg download so if you on broadband it wont take long

I tried out Google earth a while back, and was quite impressed with what it was able to do. I mean, being able to zoom in from a view of the earth right down to your rooftop is pretty amazing.

I noticed though that there are 2 types of images when you start to get down to street level. There are high res ones where you can see the streets and buildings, and then there are low rez ones where the ground is just a green blur and you can vaguely pick out only major roads and features. Unfortunately the area where i live is only a low res view. It would be great if they could capture the whole planet in a high res images.

Well worth a look at for half an hours fun, but as Butch said, its pretty useless after that.

Hopefully, the software will be updated with more high res images in time so we should all be able to see our own house. Smiley

It would be interesting if people could post some pics here of their houses or other places of interest from Google globe.
Just do a screen grab, and post it here.
Please try to keep the images smaller than 800x600 though.
